Sound made by a small electric motor cranking and reversing a lever (on an infant's glider/sleeper). This is one repeat of the sound taken from a larger sound i've provided in this archive (which has repeated takes). If you pitch-shift this down about six steps and add a metal/plate/hall reverberation effect, it sounds remarkably like a sound you hear in the carbonite chamber scene in the empire strikes back :). This was recorded with a sony icd-st voice recorder held next to the glider, then noise removed with an audio tool, then normalized. I request but don't demand credit to me (richard alexander hall) for any use of this sound.
Recorded in czech republic using iphone 7 plus mic at 320kbps (which i found had a more rounded sound than more advanced mics i used for the same sound). If any of these sounds have been of help, and you are feeling charitable, please do consider donating to freesound to help keep the site running (a link is also on the home page). Any donations are greatly appreciated! and for more awesome sounds, do please check out my sound libraries.
Wasn't intending to record this, but it was so intense i had to. I couldn't sleep with the 50mph winds hitting right outside the bedroom. Worst storm i've been through since moving to washington state in 1999. It came from the east through chinook pass. I was kind of expecting the roof to fly off. You can hear the flapping of a tarp covering my old mercedes right outside the window. The wind shredded part of the tarp. Also, the snow drift hitting the window. I used my yamaha pocketrak and edited in sony vegas adding two extra tracks. Please comment on what you may use it for. Thanks. :-).
A thunderstorm getting closer, very closer ^^the quality of this sample is rather average because it was recorded with a rudimentary equipment, i'm sorry for that.

Field recording of fort point area, near boston's south station, taken july 2004. Recording includes ride down to street level in industrial elevator, followed assorted traffic and city background noise, with seagulls audible in the background. There is some quite bad wind noise on the mic audible at points.
Recorded 5/20/11 at 10:43am on a bright sunny day in washington. Many crows were flying overhead and i recorded them on my ipod. The sounds in the background is not wind (although it sounds like it), but are cars slowly driving by about 100 yards away. The crows were directly above.
Wind moving tall grass with seagulls crying in the background. Recorded in wide stereo on top of the now-destroyed georgia pacific plant in bellingham, washington. Sound in the public domain, but i'd love it if you sent me a link to your adaptation.
Spring at noon time, a russian olive tree is swarmed by bees gathering the nectar of the tiny yellow flowers. You can hear a distant motor, magpies, and a wind chim. Recorded with an alesis palm track with the recorder placed directly in the tree, resting on a branch. Processed with soundbooth. Nothing added except gain.

Created by carmelo pampillonio for use in the make noise morphagene. Sighs, howls, drafts, gales, soughs, and hums… a study of the spaces in between. Part of the “geophysical vibrations” reel pack. See a video about carmelo’s process here: https://youtu. Be/nn38oybgeqo.
Night atmosphere recorded in the mountains in south of france. Disclaimer : the high squeak sounds you might hear in the preview comes from freesound's compression artifacts. They won't be present in the downloaded audio file.
I had a sound on my digital recorder. It had some sort of harbour feeling. To amplify that feeling i used pkoracs recording of "marina in kolding (denmark) in wind". So part modular synth part field recording. (https://freesound. Org/s/90721/).
The iron gate is closed and is shaken by someone who tries to open it, in the background wind and cars on the road. Registered in 2021 in rovereto in italy.
